Bear Cubs

pic of week 8/29/03

'Here is a photo I made of a mother Brown Bear and her cubs during a resent trip to Haines.  The bears are crossing the road just after munching on some salmon from the Chilkoot River just to the right of the picture.  There were actually three cubs and the third is just trailing in back behind the second.  The mother was doing all the 'fishing' and as fast as she grabbed a salmon from the river the three cubs ripped it up and ate it.  The little cubs tried so hard to be fierce with their growl but what came out sounded like a kitty cat.'
