Fire Water

pic'o the week 3/8/04

'This is a shot that can be made almost anywhere (kinda).  The sun setting into  the horizon.  It just so happens that this one made made in Juneau, Alaska in the Mendenhall River.  The Mendenhall River is the product of run-off from the Mendenhall glacier and surrounding mountains.   So technically a lot of this water is glacier water.  In Juneau we don't get great sunsets like this everyday, just every now and again.  This one happened as I was on my way home from the store and it was so bright and colorful I had to stop and capture it.'

Alaskan Fact: Alaska has a 6,640 mile coast line and is 50% longer than the east and west coast combined.  If you were to add the coast line of all of the islands in Alaska it would bring the total to a whopping 34,000 miles.
