Nugget Falls

pic of the week 02/14/01

'I took this photo out by the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau in the early winter.  This is the Nugget Falls, just to the east of the glacier.  It runs in between Mt. Bullard and Thunder Mountain and ends up in the Mendenhall lake.  It is feed by the snow on the top of the two mountains as well as some smaller glaciers up the mountain.  It looks pretty small from the visitors center, about a mile back, but is pretty overwhelming up close.'
